How We Approximately Came Sort of Close to Kinda Dying (TM)

While we were at Noosa, which is great by the way, we went swimming at a few beaches. The first was the one closest to our beach house (lent to us by Jim Sinclair - thanks!), Perigian Beach/Glen Eden. These were big waves, but that wasn't the ones that came close to hurting us - or did, in Angus' case.

For a few times, we went to the Noosa National Park. It's a national park (duh), but it also has a few beaches along the way. We only went to the first one, called Tea Tree Beach, It is a pretty calm beach. There weren't any flags, which means that we shouldn't swim there, but everyone was, so we didn't sweat it. We swam there a few times, and nothing much happened. It was a fun beach.

The second time, and last time, wasn't as great. It was really fun at first, with a whole bunch of us there. The party was Angus, Mama, Papa, Tim, Dexter, Tom, Nicole, Blaine, Finn and I. We played for a while, then tried to get out. Papa and Finn were already out of the water, and the rest of us were clumped together at the end of the sandy bit of the beach. There were some flat, slippery rocks and then more bigger, submerged ones. There was also a rip that dragged us into the rocky area. It was pretty intense, but nothing life threatening.

The rip was quite strong, and the waves were big. The rocks were also quite intimidating, probably more so than they actually were. I was farther behind than everyone else, so I didn't hit any rocks until a guy came on a long surfboard like thing. We had to paddle all the way up the beach to the other end, then catch another wave in. I was fine.

Mama, Tim and Tom did a great job of keeping everyone together until people came. Some guy hoisted Angus onto the rocks, but the waves were still there. Angus collected a few bleeding cuts, but nothing major. Then Blaine, Mama and Tom got collected by someone on a jet ski. How come I couldn't ride the jet ski? Hmph.

Anyway, we were all fine. We spent the rest of the day in the kids room, watching TV and recuperating.

But we were all fine.
